Our mission is to ensure a bright and successful future for the mortgage industry in Connecticut by preparing its members for leadership roles through education sessions, networking opportunities, collaborative and community events. The CMBA Young Mortgage Professionals are dedicated to securing the strongest tomorrow possible.
The Basics Our organization represents many different mortgage related companies from banks to law firms. We hold monthly meetings that bring us together to network and collaborate. Our round table discussions focus on topics making an impact on our industry today and how we can overcome challenges we face within our own organizations and beyond. For our regular Mentor Minute, we invite mentors from throughout the industry to guide us in the expansion of our careers.
Charitable Involvement We are also involved in our communities; our members partner with various non-profits to support their community efforts.
Honoring Rising Stars Each year, we present our CMBA Barbara Goodrich Rising Star Award at the annual CMBA Installation Dinner. The award is given to someone who exemplifies the values of a true rising star in the industry. Winners receive a plaque, free admission to events throughout the year, and a spotlight in our quarterly newsletter. Know someone who you feel possess these qualities and deserves this award? Meet the Advisory Board

President 2025-2027: Julie Baril is VP of Quality Control for SWBC Mortgage Corp. located out of San Antonio, TX. Her career spans over 20 years from originating to underwriting and quality control management. She is recognized as having precise analytical and strong communication skills to produce certainty with data-driven results. Having capacity in various areas, she believes staying current on all quality/fraud trends, legislative updates/mortgage industry news as well as advocating for the industry is important. She has served as a speaker on quality and fraud control panels annually for the MBA and is co-chair of Connecticut Mortgage Banker's Underwriting Committee. She is passionate about fraud detection and education on how to manufacture quality loans to sustain a thriving mortgage financial ecosystem. Personally, she keeps busy with her husband and two kids in youth sports, running road and obstacle course races, biking and fundraising. for Dana Farber Cancer Institution.

1st Chair 2025-2027: Jim McLoughlin is a Branch Manager at CMG Home Loans, where he focuses on originating mortgages and expanding the CMG brand within his community. He began his career in banking in 2006 and transitioned into mortgage sales in 2015, working with high net worth clients and business owners. Over the years, Jim has also managed loan quality across the New York and New England regions, and helped pilot programs to mentor and transition retail bankers into successful mortgage careers. He’s passionate about simplifying the mortgage process, helping families achieve homeownership, and fostering teamwork that leads to better outcomes for borrowers. Outside of work, Jim enjoys spending time with his family, playing music, and staying active through basketball and golf.

Vice Chair 2025-2027: Casey Puco is an experienced mortgage and housing professional with over 26 years in the industry. She has spent the last 10 years focusing on mortgage insurance and currently works at Essent Guaranty. Over her career, Casey has worn many different hats, including roles in risk management, client relations, and operations, giving her a well-rounded perspective on the housing and lending space. She is dedicated to delivering clear value and building lasting relationships — and is also a proud mom of two amazing kids who keep life just as rewarding outside of work.
John Francis is VP, Secondary Markets, Closing and Post Closing Manager at Newtown Savings Bank. He has over 16 years of secondary market strategic experience including MBS trading, third party pipeline management, and management of multiple hedging vehicles. John has created multiple models that enhance his institution’s secondary market capabilities, including models for best execution, risk mitigation, profitability, pricing enhancements, as well as those that help identify and lift up underserved communities. John currently serves as the treasurer of the Young Mortgage Professionals group of the CMBA, is on the board of economic development for the town of Bethel, is a former member of the Community Advisory Board for Freddie Mac, and is a graduate of Quinnipiac University and the Connecticut School of Finance and Management.

Kelly Turner is an accomplished loan officer and Assistant Branch Manager at Total Mortgage, overseeing the Glastonbury office. With a career dedicated to helping clients navigate the lending process, Kelly has gained recognition for her exceptional skills and contributions to the industry. Kelly is the social media specialist for YMP.
Kelly's commitment to excellence and her dedication to providing top-notch service has earned her the prestigious CMBA Barbara Goodrich Rising Star award in 2021. This recognition highlights her outstanding performance and industry leadership. Kelly also received the CRVCC Luminary Award in 2020 for her work with Mom Bosses CT- the largest women’s entrepreneurial group in Connecticut. Kelly also serves as the treasurer for the Glastonbury Education Foundation.
Kelly resides in Glastonbury, CT with her husband Corey, and three kids Paige, Annabelle, and Jacob. She enjoys spending her time with her family, skiing, and learning to play golf.
